so, who's this guy then
the professional bio, dragged kicking and screaming into this website's colour scheme
hi, i'm JJ — forward deployed engineer working in AI and speech recognition, with a background that also runs through consultancy and aerospace. i build end-to-end software integrations, from the first sketch of an idea through to a client actually using it and me still being on call for it. i'm reasonably good with both the engineering side and the "explain this to a stakeholder without causing a panic" side, and i pick up new tech and weird problem spaces fast, because standing still is boring.
where i've worked
-
Forward Deployed Engineer
- integrated on-device transcription into a client's voice agent stack for real-time police report summarisation, including a WS proxy layer between their stack and our containers — demoed by the client on stage in Singapore
- designed and shipped real-time multichannel transcription routing end-to-end, API to docs, which went on to help close a tasty little £100K deal
- rapidly built a "force finalize transcript" feature for voice agents with sub-second latency, which got picked up widely across the voice agent space and a decent media push
-
Senior Software Engineer
- wrote high-integrity C++ control software for hardware running radar jamming and deception techniques, owning features end-to-end under a properly strict development process
- built an automated test framework that replaced manually run test cases, cutting release-cycle testing from weeks down to hours
- i would talk more about this one but i don't think i'm allowed whoops
key skills
- C++
- Python
- ASR / speech tech
- real-time systems
- API design
- RTOS
- client integration
- stakeholder wrangling
- embedded systems

the rest
MEng in Electronic and Electrical Engineering (1:1 Hons), University of Sheffield. English natively, fluent Indonesian, proficient Spanish, and enough of other languages to get myself into trouble. When not writing code i'm probably lifting something heavy, playing something loud, skateboarding somewhere i shouldn't, or taking something apart that was working perfectly fine before i got to it.
